The United Kingdom has adopted the General Data Protection Regulation. The Data Protection, Privacy and Electronic Communications (Amendments etc) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. It is referred to as “UK GDPR”.
The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) extends its reach to include controllers and processors in third countries (outside of the EEA), when processing the data of citizens of the UK (GDPR article 3). The Regulation requires organizations based in third countries to appoint a local contact, inside the UK, to act on their behalf (GDPR article 27).
This local contact is the UK Representative and GDPR Representatives UK is established to deliver this statutory role organisations in health and social care, med tech and clinical trials.
