Clinical Director
Dr. David Lyness is Clinical Director at Kaleidoscope Consultants, where he leads digital health and life sciences engagements for an extensive portfolio of multinational pharmaceutical and medtech organisations, scale-ups, and early-stage ventures across the United Kingdom, United States, Europe and Australasia.
A medical doctor with over fifteen years of clinical experience, David trained originally in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. After over a decade in hospital medicine, he then completed specialty training in General Practice. His advisory work is grounded in the operational and safety realities of modern healthcare. He has previously held senior appointments in multiple NHS trusts and at Queen’s University Belfast.
David’s consultancy is distinguished by an unusual integration of clinical, legal, and regulatory expertise, supported by a First Class qualifying LL.B, a postgraduate qualification in International Law, and a Master of Science combining healthcare and law. Through Kaleidoscope, he delivers fractional and full-spectrum GRC services for Software as a Medical Device and digital health products, including Clinical Safety Officer appointments and DCB0129 and DCB0160 conformance, DTAC assurance, Clinical Evaluation Reports and Plans for EU MDR, and the implementation of multiple ISO systems.
David is a published clinical academic and was previously on the Editorial and Publishing Committee of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, the Royal Society for Public Health, and a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Faculty of Clinical Informatics.
David provides clinical risk analysis and consultancy services for major international healthcare organisations across New Zealand, the USA, The Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom.

Principal Consultant
David has been a privacy professional for over 15 years. He has filled several high-level roles including as a Senior Data Protection Manager and Interim Data Protection Officer. Past roles have included helping organisations prepare for new privacy laws, and, through appropriate strategy and planning, translating that work into strong business as usual policies and procedures. David completed his Masters in Information Rights Law and Practice at Northumbria University.

Laura is a highly skilled digital clinician with a special interest in the safe delivery of innovative healthcare to improve patient outcomes.
Laura is a registered Occupational Therapist, with extensive clinical and operational experience in mental health and other services.
Laura has 10 years’ experience delivering digital healthcare improvements. In her previous role she managed Clinical Systems delivery for a large NHS trust. Prior to that she was the clinical lead for a successful EPR deployment. Laura has delivered numerous projects to improve patient safety and streamline clinical processes.
She is a qualified Clinical Safety Officer, and a graduate of the NHS Digital Academy. She also has a MSc in Clinical Education and has guest lectured at various universities.

Hemanth Boddukuru is a qualified Physiotherapist in the UK, registered with the HCPC and the CSP. In addition to his clinical expertise, Hemanth is a qualified Digital Clinical Safety Practitioner, having completed formal training with NHS Digital. He brings over nine years of hands-on clinical physiotherapy experience and three years specialising in digital health regulatory compliance and clinical safety.
With a passion for integrating technology into healthcare, Hemanth excels in supporting health-tech organisations with comprehensive Clinical Risk Management. He specialises in identifying, assessing, and mitigating clinical risks to ensure digital health solutions not only comply with relevant clinical safety standards but also create solutions that are clinically safe by design. His deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and his client-centric approach enable organisations to achieve and demonstrate clinical safety assurance with confidence.
Hemanth firmly believes that every service user deserves access to exceptional clinical quality services and patient safety at every stage of their care journey. Anna completed with distinction an LLM focused on Data Protection and Legal Technology at The University of Law (London). She also holds a Master’s Degree in Law awarded cum laude at the University of Padua (Italy). In both her dissertations she undertook an in-depth multidisciplinary research with regard to Data Protection and Artificial Intelligence. In her Master’s dissertation, she explored the possibility to exploit Artificial Intelligence tools in order to automate rights balancing; and in her LLM dissertation, she critically evaluated the tensions between Data Protection and Artificial Intelligence.
Anna has targeted her expertise in supporting DPO services related to health-tech companies in order to ensure GDPR compliance.

Jack is a consultant specialising in governance, risk and compliance, with a strong background in safety-critical projects. His work spans a broad range of domains, including business continuity, clinical safety and data privacy.
Originally trained and qualified in fire safety compliance (NEBOSH), Jack brings experience from public-private sector partnerships, offering a practical and systems-focused approach to risk management. He has particular interests in information governance, safety assurance and data protection across the healthcare sector, supporting organisations to navigate complex regulatory and operational challenges with confidence.
PMO Officer and Project Consultant
Gemma Davis-Birch is an accomplished administrator specialising in data protection and clinical safety. With extensive experience in customer-facing roles and complaints management, she has a strong background in NHS Primary Care. Gemma has effectively managed the release of information to data subjects under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, responding to data subject access requests (DSAR) and requests under the Access to Health Records Act and other relevant regulations, all while adhering to strict deadlines and rules. Additionally, she is proficient in various primary care digital systems, possessing a keen understanding of user experience. Her expertise ensures smooth client delivery and operational excellence.

Katie runs all aspects of Kaleidoscope’s operations (recruitment, people policies, training and competencies, billing, supplier management, payroll, etc. ). She is an expert administrator and senior human resources professional who also offers project management, consultancy and secretariat support direct to clients.
